Skate the Lake

Dear Community, 

 

My name is Tracy Davis and I am a resident of Greers Ferry, Arkansas. 

I, along with two other women and moms formed a 501 c3 non profit, "Skate the Lake", in the hopes of raising funds to build a skatepark in Greers Ferry City Park. We have had some wonderful strides for our community park and our city council has agreed to a designated section of the park for this endeavor. My team and I along with many, agree that there is a population of children and adults that do not partake in traditional sports and would greatly benefits from having something like this to enjoy. Skateboarding had been shown to help keep individuals active and also to help healthier choices as it takes great concentration to achieve the balance on a board. It also can serve to the ones that do not have the best support at home and can have a place to go to receive this exercise and be a part of a supportive community that the skateboarding community provides. The park will also welcome roller skating, biking and scooters for those that do not skateboard.

The company we have chosen to guide us through this process is Grindline Skateparks. They travel all over world to underserved communities and build these parks. You can read more about them on www.grindline.com.

Our goal is 342,000.00. This can fluctuate depending on economic cost once we are ready. We hope you will consider a donation for this effort.
